Gorgeous Leaves Falling Leaves Cards
My first pair of cards from the Gorgeous Leaves LIVE Class shows how to create a beautiful background of falling leaves. The leaves images themselves are kind of distressed looking, and I added the flecked image for some extra texture.
Background Basics—I started by embossing a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Cajun Craze cardstock with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder, then adhered it to a Cajun Craze card base.
Falling Leaves—I stamped the Gorgeous Leaves maple leaf three times in Cajun Craze ink onto a 2" x 4-1/2" piece of Basic White. Next, I stamped the small leaf in Pool Party three times, then added the longer leaf image in Bumblebee ink to fill in some of the blank edges and corners. I finished by stamping over all of the white areas with the flecked image in stamped-off Crumb Cake ink. It's layered onto a 2-1/4" x 4-3/4" piece of Soft Suede, then mounted onto the card front.
Sweet Sentiment—The Gorgeous Leaves stamp set does not include any sentiments, so I designed these cards so you can add any greetings that you may already have in your collection. If you need a good sentiment set, the Inspired Thoughts stamp set has lots of fantastic all-occasion sentiments in various sizes that can be used on the front or inside of the card. You can click on the thumbnail in the supplies list below to see the entire set.
I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink onto a Bumblebee die-cut created with the Ornate Frames Dies. It's popped up with Dimensionals.
Leaf Accent—I stamped the small leave in Pool Party ink onto Basic White scrap, die-cut it with the coordinating die from the Intricate Leaves Dies and added it to the sentiment label with SEAL and a Dimensional. Remember, if you purchase the Intricate Leaves Dies along with the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set as a Bundle, you'll save 10% off the cost of purchasing them separately. You'll definitely want BOTH for your collection!
Finishing Touches—I finished up by adding a Linen Thread bow to the accent leaf with a "pinched" Glue Dot. Then I added a few of the copper Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots.
Good News & Bad News About Brushed Metallic Dots—The Brushed Metallic Dots have been so popular that they are currently on backorder with a tentative in-stock date of October 25. Thankfully, I do have enough dots that I should be able to cover the Gorgeous Leaves LIVE Class Kits that I'm sending out. (Update from the video: I mentioned that I might run out, but have since found a friend with some extra that I can access, if needed. Yay!)
Two Cool—The second version has an Early Espresso textured background on an Early Espresso card base.
Falling Leaves—I stamped the maple leaves in Bumblebee ink and the smaller leaves in Misty Moonlight. The flecks are in stamped-off Early Espresso. I layered the leaves onto a Misty Moonlight mat.
Sweet Sentiment & Leaf—I tried out a different Inspired Thoughts sentiment in Early Espresso ink onto the Bumblebee label. The accent leaf is in Misty Moonlight.
Finishing Touches—I added two Night of Navy Holiday Rhinestones for the sparkle gems this time. So pretty!
