Oh So Succulent Mother’s Day Gate-Fold Cards

Hi Stamping Friends!

It's the final day to register for my April Stamp-of-the-Month Class Kit featuring the pretty Oh So Succulent stamps & die-cuts.   The stamps and dies are currently on the Retired List at a discount, and I've adjusted my class kit prices to reflect those discounts. You'll save $10 on the basic kit and $16 if you select the bundle version!  Woohoo!  It's a terrific value and you'll receive it just in time to create Mother's Day and spring cards with this beautiful stamp set!

Today, I'm sharing another set of cards that participants can make with the kit.

Oh So Succulent Mother's Day Gate-Fold Cards

Along with the lovely Designer Series Papers from the Succulent Garden suite, I LOVE the amazing layering Succulent Framelits that can be used to create gorgeous, life-like succulent flowers!  I've included all of the ready-to-assemble die-cuts with my class kit—just add your own ink to bring them to life!

Gate-Fold Basics—This fancy fold card starts with an 8-1/2 x 5-1/2" sheet of Whisper White, scored along the 8-1/2" side ad the 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" marks.  TIP: Before creasing the folds, meet the two edges in the middle and line them up so that they are flush.  Once they are in position, crease the folds with a Bone Folder.  This will assure that there is no unsightly gap or overlap of the gates.

I adhered two different patterns from the Succulent Gardens Designer Series Paper, each measuring 1-7/8" x 5-1/4", to the front panels of the card using SNAIL adhesive.

Focal Point Foundation—I stamped 3" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White with a sentiment from the Oh So Succulent stamp set at the top in Tip Top Taupe ink.  Next, I stamped some of the small flowers & foliage from the set to create a background bouquet behind the paper succulent.  I stamped the flowers in Mint Macaron and the leaves in Old Olive.  TIP: To get the best two-tone look, I stamped the outline image in full ink first, then the solid image is stamped off once before stamping over the top.

I layered the stamped piece onto a 3-1/8" x 3-5/8" Tip Top Taupe mat, then attached the left side only to the left gate panel with Dimensionals.

Sweet Succulent—I die cut six layers of Mint Macaron flowers using the Succulent Framelits. I stamped each petal of the each flower using White Craft Ink and the petal tip image from Oh So Succulent set.  This gives the flower some subtle highlights.

Once the ink was dry, I used my Bone Folder to gently curve the petals upward, like a real succulent flower.  I assembled the layers with Dimensionals between the three largest layers and Glue Dots for the smaller flowers.  It's topped with a Pearl Jewel and attached with Glue Dots to the card front.

Two Cool—For the second card, I added the Sweet Sugarplum color to the mix, just to show how different the card can look with one more color added.

Sweet Sugarplum Changes—I used my favorite Succulent Garden DSP combo on this one—the colorful floral print along with the Sweet Sugarplum gingham.  This time, I stamped my sentiment at the bottom and substituted Sweet Sugarplum flowers to the stamped background.  It's matted onto an Old Olive card stock layer.

Sponged Succulent—Instead of stamping the highlights, this time I added layers of sponging to really give it a more realistic look.  First, I sponged on White Craft Ink on the petals, then I added some Always Artichoke ink to the centers of each petal.  I finished up by sponging some Rich Razzleberry ink onto the tips.  You could try out lots of different color combos for the shading for different looks.  It does take a little more time for this kind of shading, but the results are amazing!  And, if it's a Mother's Day card, mom is worth the extra effort!

My Oh So Succulent Class Kit comes with a video tutorial, so I'll show you step-by-step how to achieve this look!  Register Today!
