The textures, layers and colors of these two Summer Shadows cards are gorgeous! It takes a little extra time to run all of the die-cut layers through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, but the results are SOOOO worth it!
Background Basics—The first card begins with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Petal Pink cardstock, scored at the 5-1/2" mark. I adhered a 4" x 4" piece of the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper to the top of the card front. You can earn a FREE pack of this black & white elegant paper with a $50 order during Sale-a-Bration.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped a Shaded Summer sentiment at the bottom of the card front with Basic Grey ink. Then I tied some Flirty Flamingo Metallic Ribbon around the card front. Ooooh...I'm loving that sparkly ribbon!
Fabulous Floral—I stamped the smaller Shaded Summer floral image in Pear Pizzazz ink onto a 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Basic White, then added a few of the smaller sprig images in Pear Pizzazz to fill out the background. This layer is mounted onto a 3-3/8" x 3-3/8" piece of Mango Melody and adhered to the card front with SEAL Adhesive.
Next, I die-cut the flower and leaf layers using the Summer Shadows Dies. The large flower is in Petal Pink with a Flirty Flamingo overlay, the smaller flower is Pale Papaya with Mango Melody overlay, and the leaves are Pear Pizzazz with Old Olive overlay. The layers are adhered with Liquid Multipurpose Glue, then attached to the card with SEAL.
Finishing Touches—I finished by adding an Opal Round gem to each of the flowers.
Two Cool—For the second card, I began with a Pool Party vertical card base, stamped with a different sentiment from the Shaded Summer stamp set.
This time I tied some Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon Trim around the card front.
Fab Floral—The background and leaves are the same. The large flower is die-cut from Pool Party with a Coastal Cabana overlay and the smaller flower is So Saffron with a Bumblebee overlay. The focal point is layered onto a Bermuda Bay mat.

A couple weeks ago, I shared an easy way to do the Reflection Technique using the plastic sheet from photopolymer stamp sets. Today's card features an alternative way to do the Reflection Technique, or in this case, it's more of the Mirror Technique. I like using this version of the technique when I'm trying to create a die-cut image that faces the opposite direction. I have the step-by-step details below and you can see the technique in action on my Facebook LIVE Replay below.
Background Basics—I placed the Happy Tails bone and paw print images onto one acrylic block, then stamped them randomly over a 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" piece of Balmy Blue cardstock in Balmy Blue ink. It's adhered onto the bottom of a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White cardstock. Next, I adhered a 1-1/2" x 4" piece of the Balmy Blue Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper along the left side.
Background Accents—I stamped the Happy Tails sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto the white background, then mounted the layer onto a Night of Navy card base. Next, I stamped the doghouse outline onto scrap Whisper White cardstock in the Memento Black ink and stamped the solid house image over the top in Soft Suede ink. I colored the door of the house with some Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Marker. I hand-cut the doghouse and adhered it to the background with SNAIL adhesive.
Mirror Image Technique—I created the right-facing dog image with the help of a Stamparatus and Silicone Craft Mat. I used the Foam Mat in the Stamparatus and added the Silicone Craft Mat over the top of it, both aligned flush in the upper right corner of the tool.
Add the Happy Tails image to the Stamparatus Plate, ink it up with Memento Black Ink and stamp onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock that is positioned flush to the top right corner of the Stamparatus. TIP: Position your stamp set case under the stamping plate to provide a more flat surface, making it easier to ink up the image.
Punch the image out of the Whisper White cardstock with Dog Builder Punch.
Replace the punched cardstock onto the Stamparatus platform, flush to the top right.
Ink the dog image with Memento Black again, then stamp through the punched window onto the Craft Silicone Mat.
Repeat inking and stamping onto the Craft Mat for another layer of ink, so the outline is solid and black.
Place the punched dog piece into the template, careful not to smear the ink below.
Re-ink the image and stamp over the top of the punched shape. The pressure of the stamp helps to transfer the ink from the Silicone Craft Mat to the back of the punched shape.
Now you have a punched shape with the image inked on both sides, so you can use either side! Too Cool!
Two Cool Dogs—I colored the dog on the left with the Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends Markers. The other dog is stamped with the Happy Tails spots image in Soft Suede ink, then colored over the rest of the body with the Light Crumb Cake Blends Marker. Both dogs are popped up with Dimensionals onto a Whisper White Layering Ovals die-cut, then mounted onto a Night of Navy scallop oval, also die-cut with the Layering Ovals dies. I mounted the oval onto the card front with SNAIL.
I finished by punching a Cherry Cobbler heart with the Dog Builder Punch and popping it up between the dogs like they were both holding it in their mouths.
See The Mirror Technique In Action—I showed how to do this mirror technique on my Facebook LIVE Replay below. It's on the second half of the video, starting around the 23-minute mark.

Last week, I shared one way to do the Reflection Technique with a Photopolymer plastic sheet. For this project sheet, the Silicone Craft Mat and Stamparatus was used for the technique. It's a fun alternative that allows you to have a little more ink on the reflection and give a little better transfer. The Animal Expedition DSP on this card gives a soft, coordinating pattern that is perfect for a background.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
Adhere a 4” x 5-/4” piece of Animal Expedition DSP to a Pool Party card base.
Place a 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” piece of Whisper White cardstock on the Stamparatus.
Position the Animal Outing rubber stamp about ½” from the top and close the plate. This is the positioning for the reflection stamping.
Remove Whisper White cardstock and replace with a Silicone Craft Sheet. Ink up the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto the Silicone; then repeat to make sure the image is inked well.
Add the Whisper White cardstock back to the Stamparatus on top of the Silicone. Bring the plate down onto the cardstock to press the cardstock onto the Silicone Mat to fully transfer the ink to the backside of the cardstock.
Mount Animal Outing image back onto a regular acrylic block. Stamp the same Animal Outing image directly above the reversed image in Memento Black ink.
Color the images with Stampin’ Blends Markers: Smoky Slate for the body, Ivory for the tusk, Pool Party for the water, and Daffodil Delight Dark, Cherry Cobbler Light & Pumpkin Pie Dark for the bird.
Stamp the Animal Outing sentiment in Memento Black ink.
Mount the stamped layer onto a 2-3/4” x 3-3/4” piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere to the card front.
Oh my goodness...those little swimming rhinos are stinkin' cute! Here's a quick card using similar Stampin' Blends Marker coloring as the first card. Love those adorable little leaves accents around the sentiment, too!
Step-By-Step Instructions:
Adhere a 1” x 5-1/2” strip of Animal Expedition DSP down the left side of the card front.
Stamp the Animal Outing rhino using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the lower right corner of a 3-1/4” x 5-1/2” piece of Whisper White cardstock.
Color in the image with Stampin’ Blends: Smoky Slate for the rhino, Daffodil Delight & Pumpkin Pie for the bird, Old Olive for the grass.
Pop up the stamped layer onto the right side of the card front with Dimensionals.
Stamp the Animal Outing greeting using Memento Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and punch it out using the 1-¼” circle punch.
Punch out a 1-3/8” Scallop Circle in Basic Gray and adhesive sentiment to it with SNAIL.
Trim off three leaves from the Leaf Ribbon and add them to the back of the greeting using Glue Dots. Add greeting to the card front using Dimensionals.

Let's take a look at each of the card designs up close!
Card 1: Amazing As You—I had to start with my favorite card design from the kit. I love the beautiful floral background and layers!
Background Basics—Each of the card bases is pre-printed with a lovely watercolor-look design. This card has a intricate, laser-cut layer that provides a pretty outline to the colorful image. It's adhered with Multipurpose Glue that is not included in the kit, but is included at my class.
Card 1 Layers—I stamped the Incredible Like You sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink onto the pre-punched, silver-lined label. It's popped up with the included Dimensionals over a Granny Apple Green Glimmer Paper banner. I added a Grapefruit Grove Baker's Twine bow and Rhinestone Jewels, all included in the kit!
See what I mean about EASY and oh, so pretty?!
Card 2: I Adore You—This refreshing card is perfect for that special someone.
Background Basics—The card base on this one just looks like a bunch of colorful spheres until you add the white laser-cut layer! Then it looks like a citrus design! Too Cool!
Card 2 Accents—I stamped the sentiment in Lovely Lipstick onto the silver-lined circle. It's popped up over a Daffodil Delight striped label shape and a Granny Apple green sparkly banner. I added a twine bow and Rhinestones to this card, as well.
Card 3: Glad We Are Friends—Check out all of the details on this card! Wow!
Background Basics—Again, the card base is printed with a pretty wash of color and the overlay just makes it prettier!
Card 3 Accents—I stamped the Incredible Like You sentiment in Coastal Cabana onto the label punch-out. I added some Granny Apple Green Glimmer leaves die-cuts and Grapefruit Grove Baker's Twine to the back of the label before popping it up. Finally, I attached the paper flower die-cuts onto the label with the included Glue Dots and accented the with Rhinestones.
Card 4: Incredibly Proud of You—The final card includes an laser-cut layer that overlays a piece of Granny Apple Green Glimmer Paper. Those layers are mounted onto a pre-printed matching card base.
Card 4 Décor—This sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick and layered onto a Grapefruit Grove striped circle. It's finished with more twine & rhinestones. Love the extra sparkle on this one!

Today's projects focus on several products from the Delightfully Detailed Suite! I used the Delightfully Detailed Note Cards on the front of a quarter-size card base for a fantastic card with a unique opening! Check out the details!
Background Basics—I started by cutting a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" quarter-size card base from Very Vanilla Thick cardstock. I added a 4-1/4" x 2-1/4" strip of Mint Macaron across the bottom before rounding the corners on the right side with the Delightful Trio Punch.
Note Card Décor—I trimmed 1/4" off of the bottom of one of the Mint Macaron note cards, so it would have an equal border on all sides. Next, I carefully trimmed out a piece of the delicate, laser-cut Delightfully Detailed Specialty Designer Series Paper to fit on the corner of the note card. Did you know that this paper is white on one side and vanilla on the other? I chose the Very Vanilla side to match the note cards. Using a sponge and a Silicone Craft Mat underneath to protect my work surface, I sponged on some Multipurpose Glue on the back to adhere the finely-cut paper. I trimmed off the excess with Paper Snips.
Next, I tied some Very Vanilla Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the note card front, then mounted the card onto a 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock with SNAIL. It's mounted onto the card base with more SNAIL. I love the unique opening on this card! Don't forget to decorate the inside of the card with the Detailed With Love images.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Detailed With Love greeting in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla cardstock, then die-cut it with the Layering Ovals Framelits. It's layered onto a Blackberry Bliss scallop oval, die-cut with the same framelits. The two layers are adhered together with SNAIL, then popped up with Dimensionals onto the card front. I finished by adding a single Mint Macaron Faceted Dot. You can earn a FREE pack of Faceted Dots when you place a qualifying order and use my Host Code this month. See details at the bottom of this post!
Two Cool—My second card starts with a Blackberry Bliss quarter sheet. I used one of the Blackberry Bliss Delightfully Detailed Note Cards this time, mounted onto a mat of Very Vanilla.
The Delightfully Detailed DSP is cut from the same pattern and I used the same Tulle Ribbon.
Sweet Sentiment—I used the same sentiment and scallop oval on this two-color card. This time, I added a few extra Faceted Dots floating on the card front and the sentiment.

Too Cool Team member Jodi Geers shared this gorgeous card at last month's team event and she presented some great tips for creating the wonderful textures and layers!
Embossing Paste Background—This card begins with a Berry Burst card base textured with some of the new Embossing Paste. Jodi laid the Pattern Party decorative mask over the card front, securing it with some washi tape. Then, she spread on a thin layer of Embossing Paste over the mask over part of the background. Once she finished spreading the layer of paste, she carefully lifted off the mask and let it dry while she completed the rest of the card layers. TIP: Be sure to clean the mask with soap and water immediately after using it, so the paste doesn't dry onto the mask.
Pinewood Planks Texture—Jodi texture embossed a 2-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Crumb Cake card stock with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Texture Impressions Folder. You'll only need ONE cutting pad to run this extra-thick embossing folder. TIP:Spritz the card stock with a light mist of water to loosen up the fibers help it become more pliable. It really makes a big difference in the depth of the embossed texture and it keeps the paper from tearing.
Blossom Petals—The focal point of this card is created with the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set and the coordinating Blossom Builder Punch. To make each of the six petals, Jodi stamped the outline or "skeleton" petal image in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White. Next, she stamped the solid stamp in Berry Burst ink that's stamped-off once. The petals are finished by stamping the partial petal image in Berry Burst. Then, she punched each of the petals with the Blossom Builder Punch. TIP: Stamp all of the petals side-by-side on a strip of card stock that is about 1-1/4" wide. The petal is situated upside-down on the punch, so stamping them on the strip makes it easier to punch without wasting a lot of card stock or having to trim it down. Make sure they are stamped far enough apart so that the other parts of the punch don't interfere with the petal shape.
Blossom Assembly—Jodi used a Bone Folder to curve the petals downward. To assemble, she put a dollop of hot glue onto a Silicone Craft Mat and added a layer of three petals, then added the remaining three petals in-between. She also hot glued loops of White Baker's Twine to the flower back and adhered the whole flower to the card front with more hot glue.
Flower Finish—Jodi brushed on some Wink of Stella Clear onto the flower petals for some shimmer and added a Clear Faceted Gem to the center.
Flower & Leaf Accents—Jodi stamped the Bunch of Blossoms leaf skeleton image in Memento Black, then stamping over the top with the solid image in Lemon Lime Twist stamped off, and the partial image in full strength. Jodi hand-cut these leaves, curved them with a Bone Folder and added them around the flower with Glue Dots (or more hot glue).
The tiny flowers are stamped in Powder Pink with Berry Burst dotted accents, then punched with the Blossom Builder Punch. TIP:Again, stamp these flowers onto a small strip of Whisper White to be able to best position them into the punch. They are attached to the card front with Mini Dimensionals.
Berry Bow—Jodi finished the card with a Berry Burst 5/8" Crinkled Ribbon bow. TIP:To make the bow lay nicely with the tails pointing down, Jodi creates two loops in the ribbon while it's still on the spool, then ties the loops (bunny ears) into a knot. It's adhered with a Mini Dimensional.
Wow! What a wonderfully detailed card! I love it, Jodi! Thanks for sharing!
There is just one week left to sign up for my June Stamp-of-the-Month Class Kit featuring the lovely & versatile Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set! Today, I'm sharing another pair of cards that you can create with the class.
But first, I wanted to give a shout-out to my Too Cool Stamping girls softball team!
I sponsor my niece Ellie's middle school team, which is also coached by my brother-in-law, Colin. I have so much fun watching them play and cheering them on! Here's a fun action shot I captured of Ellie at bat. Yesterday, she was selected to play in the all-star tournament...woot, woot!
I love that the girls have an awesome "Too Cool" chant on the break of their huddles...check it out!
Good luck, girls, as you head in the final weeks of the season, the All-Stars and the tournament!
And, another shout-out to my younger niece Sophie, who plays in the grade 4-5 league. She was also selected as an all-star! Way to go!
The large Happy Birthday die-cut looks fabulous with floral accents courtesy of the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set! Those bitty blooms really bring the look together! Let's take a closer look...
Background Basics—I began this card with a 1" x 5-1/4" strip of the fun Berry Burst striped Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper adhered to a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Sweet Sugarplum card stock. I layered a 4" x 2" piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock across the center and mounted the entire background onto a Whisper White card base.
Birthday Background—I die-cut a 2-7/8" x 4-3/4" Lots of Labels shape from Whisper White as the focal point foundation. Then I decorated the top and bottom decorative edges with stamps from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set:
Stamp the larger flower outline image in Berry Burst at the top and bottom centers.
Stamp the large solid flower image in Flirty Flamingo stamped off one time over the large outline flowers.
Stamp the smaller flower outline image in Berry Burst on either side of the large flower.
Stamp the small solid flowers in Sweet Sugarplum stamped off one once over the small outline flowers.
Stamp the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist around the flowers; some are stamped off once.
Delightful Die-Cut—I used the Happy Birthday Thinlit to die-cut the sentiment from Berry Burst card stock. It's adhered by lightly sponging Multipurpose Adhesive onto the back. I like to do the sponging on a Silicone Craft Sheet for easy cleanup!
Finishing Touches—I added Pearl Jewels to each of the flower centers, then popped up the label with Dimensionals.
Two Cool—The second card is the identical design in a different color combination. I used the Peekaboo Peach chevron pattern of Foil Frenzy DSP on a Peekaboo Peach background, then added a Lemon Lime Twist panel across the center.
The Happy Birthday is die-cut from Tangerine Tango. The large flower is created with a Berry Burst outline and Flirty Flamingo stamped off solid center. The smaller flowers are stamped with Tangerine Tango outlines and Peekaboo Peach stamped off solid centers.

We already know that the Designer Series Papers will be retiring soon, so I'm wrapping up my 3-Part Spotlight on DSP Series with a two more fun ways to use our amazing papers!
The Beautiful You stamp set is so fun for trying the Paper Piecing Technique. Too Cool Team Member Darla Eigenschink created this lovely card using the soft & pretty colors in the Falling In Love Designer Series Paper.
Background Basics—Darla started this card by wrapping some Very Vanilla Lace Trim around a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the Falling In Love Designer Paper, then adhering that to a Sahara Sand card base.
Paper Piecing—Darla stamped the Beautiful You dancing girl image in Memento Black onto a 2-7/8" x 4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock. She stamped the same image on another Falling In Love DSP pattern, then cut out the dress and hat with super-sharp Paper Snips. Those pieces were adhered onto the original stamped image with Multipurpose Glue. TIP: Use that Silicone Craft Mat to keep your work surface clean. See my 7 Ways To Use The Silicone Craft Mat video.
Finishing Details—Darla stamped the Beautiful You sentiment on the top with Memento Black ink. The piece is matted onto a 3" x 4-1/8" piece of Blushing Bride card stock, then popped up with Dimensionals. So, so pretty!
Not only does this project spotlight the often forgotten Irresistably Floral Designer Series Paper, it also features a Too Cool technique that doesn't get used nearly enough anymore! Plus, it uses soon-to-retire Watermelon Wonder In Color ink—get those In Colors before they sell out!
Irresistible Background—Sponge Watermelon Wonder ink onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the diamond pattern of Irresistibly Floral DSP, then adhere it to a Basic Black card base.
Faux Linen Stamping—TIP: Be sure your work surface is covered for this part, because the ink will bleed through the tissue paper. You can use a Silicone Craft Mat for easy cleanup. See my 7 Ways To Use The Silicone Craft Mat video.
Stamp the Remarkable You flower in Black Archival Ink onto a 4" x 4-1/2" piece of white tissue paper and let dry. Then, color the flower with Stampin' Write Markers using Watermelon Wonder for the flower, Daffodil Delight for the flower center and Pear Pizzazz for the stem. Let dry completely, Crumple up the tissue paper into a small ball, then carefully unfold it.
Place a 3" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White on a Silicone Craft Mat. Add some Multipurpose Adhesive glue to the corner of the mat.
