Peace & Joy Sending Joy Gnome Card

There are so many fun elements going on with this joyful card by Katherine Anderson!  I especially love the popped up layering of the word "Joy" as the focal point. The Joy Dies make it so easy!

 

 

Background Basics—Katherine started by embossing a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder. Next, she layered a 4" x 3" piece of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper along the bottom and wrapped some Real Red Braided Linen Trim across the top of it, securing the ends on the back. It's all mounted onto a Whisper White Thick card base.

 

 

Joyful Foam Sentiment—Check out the dimension on that focal point! It's not popped up with traditional Dimensional foam dots...it's actually die-cut from Foam Adhesive Sheets!  Did you know you could die-cut that foam?  You can! Any open die will work! Talk about Too Cool!  

 

Katherine first die-cut the large "joy" outline die-cut from Real Red cardstock. Next, she adhered a piece of Whisper White cardstock to the Foam Adhesive Sheet and ran it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with the middle-sized "joy" die to get that thick layer. She finished by die-cutting the skinny "joy" from Gold Foil, adhering it to the white foam layer with Multipurpose Glue. All layers are stacked and adhered to the card front with Multipurpose Glue. Amazing!

 

Sentiment Accents—Katherine finished the sentiment by stamping the two reverse-type sections onto Whisper White cardstock in Mossy Meadow or Real Red. She hand-cut the words and attached them with more Multipurpose Glue.

 

 

Nice Gnome—I also love her adorable gnome from Gnome For The Holidays! She stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White and colored him in with Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Smoky Slate and Soft Suede. He's popped up with Dimensionals.

 

Finishing Touches—Katherine finished with a few Red Rhinestone Jewels floating around the card for sparkle!  What a fun card!

Peace & Joy Peekaboo Pocket Card

Talk about Too Cool and FUN!  Deb Snyder sent me this AMAZING Peace & Joy pocket card with a cool peekaboo feature!  The Joy Dies make it easy to create, too!

 

Joyful Pocket—Deb started with an 11" x 5-1/4" piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock, scored along the 5-1/4" side at the 1/2" and 4-3/4" marks and along the 11" side at the 5-1/2" mark. She cut the 1/2" panels away from one side of the card, and the other panels will be used as flaps to to adhere the card together into a pocket. Before she adhered it together, she ran the piece through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with the large "joy" outline die on the side with the flaps.

 

Once the window is die-cut, adhere the flaps to the back of the card with SEAL+ Adhesive or Tear & Tape Adhesive. Use the 1-1/2" Circle Punch to punch out the notch at the edge of the pocket.

 

 

Pocket Insert—Deb created the pocket insert with a 5-3/8" x 4" piece of Real Red. She stamped the Peace & Joy holly image in Granny Apple Green with Real Red berries and a Memento Black sentiment onto a 4-1/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White, leaving plenty of room for the focal point.

 

Joy Focal Point—Deb die-cut the medium "joy" layer in Soft Sea Foam and the skinny "joy" layer in Real Red. To position them in the window, she inserted the pocket and centered the layers, adhering them with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

 

Sweet Sentiment—Next, Deb stamped the card front sentiment in Memento Black onto Whisper White, hand-cut it, and layered it onto a Real Red Classic Label punched shape. It's popped up with Dimensionals.

 

Finishing Touches—She created a festive accent by stamping a couple more holly leaves in Granny Apple Green onto Whisper White cardstock, cutting them out and popping them up with Dimensionals. She finished by adding a Real Red Sheer Ribbon bow with a Glue Dot. Oooohhh...I love, love LOVE this card!

Stamp Club Tags Design 4—Peekaboo Stocking

I'm having so much fun designing this collection of tags for my Stamp Club event on Friday. The most difficult thing is deciding what NOT to do!  There are endless possibilities—it's so hard to choose! 

So, for the 4th design, and after much agonizing over ideas, I finally decided on using the Peekaboo Die from the Holiday Mini.  I love all of the little doors that can hide a sentiment, an image, a photo, or some journaling!  So versatile and fun!  And, they are all the perfect size for creating interactive tags!

Oh my!  They are so darling!  And the little stocking from the Stocking Builder Punch fits nicely on this mini top note shape! 

I punched out the Lucky Limeade stocking first, then embossed it with the Snow Burst Impressions Folder.  I wasn't going to do more tags with Silver Glimmer Paper, since I had so many from yesterday, but how could I not?!  You have to use it for the cuff/heel/toe! 

Peekaboo Die TIP: To achieve the best results for both the cuts and scoring on this die, I recommend using the Crease Pad.  And, you may have to add a shim of card stock to get the score to be prominent.  All Big Shots are calibrated differently, so play with it to see what works best with your machine.

The Pacific Point peekaboo base was stamped with the French Filigree background stamp in Pacific Point ink.

The sentiment is "mini punched" from the Decorative Label Punch (see how at this post).  The "Merry Christmas" is from the Petite Pairs set, which is the perfect set to use with the Peekaboo Die.  You can put half of the greeting on the front...

...and the other half of the greeting on the inside.  Awesomeness!

I attached a 2-1/4 x 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White to the back of the window to stamp on.  It's a little tricky to get this adhered, because there isn't much of a border to stick it to.  I recommend using the 2-Way Glue Pen for precise glue application along the very edge of opening.

You can leave the back with the white card stock, but I wanted a more finished look.

 

First, I tried adhering the whole tag to another sheet of Pacific Point card stock, then trimming around the edge of the shape.  Forget that!  That was a pain in the butt!  Next, I tried using another peekaboo window die-cut, this time adhering it closed!  It worked perfectly, as long as you don't miind the peekaboo cut lines showing.

TIP: I typically use a shim with my Peekaboo Die (as I mentioned above), but for the back piece, I took the shim out. The cuts were not as deep, so the little opening notch didn't pop off.

Or, you can use the die-cut as another peekaboo window on the back, as shown in my second photo above for Two Cool windows! 

Now, I'm going to have to try making more tags with all the rest of the Peekaboo Die shapes—too much fun!

Peekaboo Frames Die Ideas

Have you seen the Peekaboo Frames Die in the Holiday Mini Catalog?  It is so very versatile! 

Not only do you get cutely shaped die-cuts, but each one has a pre-cut and pre-scored door that opens up to reveal something underneath!  Too Cool!  Can you imagine all the possibilities?!

The Holiday Mini features the Peekaboo Frames Die alongside the 25 & Counting stamp set with an awesome advent calendar sample.  I don't have that set, but Sandy Hancock from Udderly Awesome Stamping From The Heart created one just like the example in the Mini on her blog: 25 & Counting Advent Calendar.

  

We saw some other cute ideas at our Too Cool Demo Team Meeting last week. Linda Cox discovered that these cool frames are perfect for little surprises on Halloween projects! 

  

Linda used the Spooky Bingo Bits stamp set (ooooh, these are perfectly sized!) for a creepy Halloween Peekaboo Frames Die window on the front of this card! 

I love that the she used an extra piece of card stock to make the door overlap. 

  

Here's another pumpkin-themed card by Linda, also using the Spooky Bingo Bits and the Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper.  When it's opened, the spider jumps up at you on an accordion-folded card stock spring!  EEEEeeek!

  

Linda also had a great idea to use the frames to spell out the word "Boo!"  LOVE it!  The "B" is made by rounding two corners of two square shapes with the Corner Rounder, then stacking them on top of each other.  The background is Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper, and Spooky Bingo Bits cats are revealed under each letter.  Awesome idea, Linda!

  

Darla Eigenschink also tried out the Peekaboo Frames Die on this sophisticated Christmas card.  She used the Delightful Decorations ornament on the front of her window, embellished with a Rhinestone Jewel.  The textured background is courtesy of a Petals-A-Plenty Impressions Folder.

Try Peekaboo Frames For Scrapbooking!

Although I'm not a scrapbooker, I think these fun frames would lend themselves to all kinds of awesome scrapbook designs. You could put a photo on the front and journaling behind the door.  Or, have a "before" photo on the front, and an "after" picture underneath.  Or, ask a question on the outside, with an answer on the inside.  Plus, you could incorporate them into your designs (like windows of a house, or school, or boat) for interactive page layouts.  Endless possibilites!
