Perfectly Plaid Patchwork Pine Cards

Perfectly Plaid Patchwork Pine Cards

I love the patchwork background on these cards from my Perfectly Plaid Class Kit! We'll be creating four each of this design, giving stampers plenty of chance to mix & match their favorite Wrapped In Plaid Designer Series Papers. So, so pretty!

Background Basics—I started with a Night of Navy card base and added a 4-1/4" x 1-1/2" piece of Gold Foil that I embossed with the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder. Ooooh, I love that texture! It looks like hammered metal on one side and like a pebbles or reptile skin on the other...very versatile!

Patchwork Pattern—For the patchwork background, I cut four 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" Wrapped In Plaid DSP rectangles, two each of two designs. I layered them onto a 3-1/4" x 4-3/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock and mounted it to the card front with SNAIL adhesive.

Perfect Pine—I stamped the Perfectly Plaid whimsical pine image in Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink onto Shaded Spruce cardstock, then punched it out with the Pine Tree Punch. I popped it up onto a Whisper White Stitched Shapes die-cut, then adhered the oval to the card front with SNAIL.

Options: If you don't have the new Delicata gold ink, you could gold emboss the tree or simply stamp in Shaded Spruce ink for a tone-on-tone look.

Finishing Touches—I stamped the Perfectly Plaid sentiment in Cherry Cobbler onto a 1/2" wide strip of Whisper White, then fishtail cut the ends. It's layered over the pine tree with SNAIL and a couple of Dimensionals. I finished with a Linen Thread bow attached with a pinched Glue Dot.

Two Cool—My second version starts with a Shaded Spruce card base and I lowered the Gold Foil accent layer closer to the bottom.

I also lowered the sentiment to the bottom of the oval and attached the bow to the center of the tree. I love this look!

Class Projects—Here are all four cards that I created with the Perfectly Plaid Class Kit. The kit also contains two more card designs, four of each, for a total of 12 holiday cards!

NEW Perfectly Plaid & "Last Thursdays" Classes!

What a fun and busy week I've had! It's been like Santa's Workshop here in my Too Cool Stamping studio the past couple of weeks as I prepared for my first craft fair of the season last weekend. I had a fantastic time at the Deer Ridge Holly Days show and I want to thank all of my local stamping friends who took the time to come out and visit my booth! It was so great to see you all! Doing craft fairs is one of the highlights of the season for me because of YOU!

Christmas Gleaming Boughs of Holly Cards

The ornaments in the Brightly Gleaming suite as so pretty and elegant! For the first time ever, Stampin' Up! is offering a pair of full-size punches to help making cutting out those ornaments quick and easy! I used the pair to punch out a couple of cool ornaments from the coordinating Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper on these two cards. This is one of the three card styles that is featured in my Christmas Gleaming Countdown To Christmas kit!

Background Basics—I started with a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of the Pretty Peacock Brightly Gleaming DSP, layered onto a Pretty Peacock card base. TIP: Since it's such a large piece of DSP, I like to die-cut some shapes out of the middle for use on another project!

Sweet Sentiment—I added a 3-3/4" x 1/2" strip of striped Brightly Gleaming DSP across a 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" Very Vanilla piece. Next, I stamped the Christmas Gleaming sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink just above the stripes and mounted it onto a 3-7/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Old Olive cardstock.

Elegant Ornaments—I punched out the large and small ornaments from Brightly Gleaming DSP with the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack. Next, I did a little creative punching! I punched the small ornament top from Copper Foil and adhered that with SNAIL. I also punched the Copper Foil strip with the center of the large ornament punch, then embossed it with the Stylish Scroll folder and added it across the middle with SNAIL. That large ornament is popped up with Dimensionals.

Holly Leaves—I stamped the Christmas Gleaming holly leaves image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Very Vanilla. It's colored with Old Olive, Pool Party and Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends Markers, then hand-cut and popped up onto the ornaments. So pretty!

Finishing Touches—I finished with a single Star Designer Element for another pop of Copper! If you get the class kit, you'll get a half pack of these cute stars that you'll be able to use on other projects, too!

Two Cool—The second card starts with an Old Olive Brightly Gleaming DSP pattern on an Old Olive card base. I changed the orientation to vertical (but I think I like the horizontal better for this style!).

The sentiment is stamped in the lower right corner with Old Olive ink and the layer is mounted onto Pretty Peacock.

The ornaments are basically the same as the first card. I used a different pattern for the small ornament and positioned them a little differently with the vertical focal point.

Snowman Seasons Heartwarming Memories Cards

I couldn't wait to use the adorable Snowman Punch with the Let It Snow suite of products! I paired it with several other items from that suite to design one of the card styles for my Snowman Season Class-To-Go Kit. Stampers will create four cards with this basic design, and I'm sharing four variations on today's post.

Snowman season heartwarming - buider pool

Background Basics—This card starts with a vertically-folded Coastal Cabana card base: 11" x 4-1/4" and scored at the 5-1/2" mark. Next, I texture embossed the 4" x 5-1/4" Coastal Cabana background layer with the new Winter Knit Embossing Folder and mounted it to the card front with a combination of Tear & Tape and SNAIL adhesives. I added a 4" x 2-1/4" piece of Let It Snow Designer Series Paper on the bottom half of the card front.

Curly Ribbon—I tied some of the new Real Red 1/8" Curly Ribbon around the card front into a double-knot and frayed out the ends. This ribbon reminds me of the old ponytail ribbon I used to wear as a child and I can see it being excellent for tying around holiday treats and packages!

Smiling Snowman—I stamped the Snowman Season plain snowman in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock, along with a hat and two stick arms. I colored in the image with Stampin' Blends Markers in Pumpkin Pie Light (nose), Basic Black Light, Bermuda Bay Light, Shaded Spruce Light, Real Red Light an Smoky Slate Light. I used a tiny bit of Pool Party Light Blends to add some soft color to the snowman, too. Then, I used the Snowman Builder Punch to punch all of the pieces.

I stamped some Pool Party snowflakes from the Snowman Season stamp set onto a Stitched Nested Labels Whisper White die-cut. I popped up the snowman body and hat onto the label with Dimensionals, then added the arms with SNAIL. The label was popped up onto the card front, too. I topped off the snowman with a Real Red Rhinestone on his hat. So sweet!

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Snowman Season sentiment in Memento Black onto Pool Party cardstock, then die-cut it with the Ornate Frames dies (from the Halloween Monster Bash suite!). It's popped up with more Dimensionals.

Two Cool—For my second version, I changed up the DSP and the placement of the elements

I stamped the juggling snowman on this label this time and filled in the empty space at the bottom of the label with the overlapping sentiment label. I added the Red Rhinestones under that.

More Cool—For the third and forth cards in the kit, I changed the background layer to the coordinating Shaded Spruce just to mix it up! Other than that, the cards are very similar as the first two cards.

Inspired By—I CASEd this adorable swap card created by Amy Storrie for this class. I love the Real Red and Pool Party color combination on her card.

Snowman Details—I love how Amy added some Pool Party ink with a Stampin' Blends Marker behind the snowman to really make him pop off of the background. She also stamped with a different image above the snowman and added some textured Puff Paint that looks like teeny little snowballs!

Simply dab a bit of Puff Paint onto the image, then heat until it puffs up into a fuzzy texture. The Puff Paint has been a VERY popular item from the Holiday Catalog so far!

Countdown To Christmas Series Is Back!

I'll once again be hosting my annual holiday cardmaking series to help you create 48 cards by early December. About every 3 weeks, I'll feature a holiday stamp set along with a class for making 12 cards (4 each of 3 styles). There is an option to add on the bundle if you want the coordinating punch or die. You can also choose to get the cards only, or substitute stamp sets, if you want to purchase your favorite sets right away.

Snowman Season Class-To-Go Kit—Our first Countdown To Christmas Class Kit will feature the adorable Snowman Season stamp set (photopolymer) stamp set. We'll create 12 cards—4 each of 3 designs! Add the Snowman Punch to make it easy to build a snowman of your own!

You'll create 4 each of the following card designs using your choice of Designer Series Papers:

Let It Snow Gift Card Holder Cards—Quick & easy gift card holder, or make it a traditional Z-fold card.
Merry Christmas Flap Cards—A fun-fold card with a cute overlapping front flap.
Heartwarming Memories Cards—Select your favorite DSP and build a snowman!

Class Kit Contents—Your kit will include the Snowman Season stamp set (photopolymer) stamp set ($18), along with Bonus Items including: 1/2 pack (6x12") of Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper ($7.25), 5 yards of Real Red 1/8" Curly Ribbon ($3.50), and a half pack of Red Rhinestone Jewels ($3.50). Plus, it will also include pre-cut supplies to create 12 cards (4 each of 3 styles) with envelopes. Instructions will be emailed to you as a PDF, and you'll get a link to an exclusive Too Cool Class Tips Video. You'll add your own ink & adhesives. I will not be cutting the DSP, so you can mix & match your favorite patterns.

When you know what you'd like, reserve your items at my Reserve Craft Fair Boutique Items page. I will total up your items, figure out the shipping and email an invoice to you. You can pay that invoice online with your PayPal account OR any credit card.

How Much Is Shipping? The cost depends on how many items you order and whether they will fit into a Priority Mail Envelope or box. If you have just a few items, I will use a Priority Mail Padded Envelope which costs $7.25. Shipped items will arrive in 2-3 business days. I'm shipping items thru December 18 for Christmas delivery.

Can I Pick Up My Order? Absolutely! If you are in the Fort Wayne, IN, area, you are welcome to pickup your items at my SW side studio. No local deliveries are available. I'll be taking local orders right up until December 23.

Can I Order Additional Quantities? Sorry, I am no longer taking custom orders for the 2018 holiday season. All items are while supplies last.
