Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies Cards

Hi Stamping Friends!

It snowed again here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, again last night and it's making me really wishing for some spring weather. Normally, I love a good snow, but I've been stuck inside the house and I want to get out and about in the warm spring air with my sweet little Ava!

Today, I'm sharing the details about two sweet spring cards that I featured on this week's LIVE Class. I'm longing to see some of those daffodils in real life!

Ava - mickey outfit with elephant
Ava Update—Ava is officially three months old as of yesterday! WHAT?!! She is growing too fast and I wish I could freeze time! She has outgrown her first round of outfits and diaper sizes and she is eating a lot more! She is reaching for things with much more purpose now, hugging her stuffed elephant and putting them to her mouth. She even helps hold her bottle or book sometimes. Her favorite thing to do is to stand, with our assistance of course! She would rather stand than sit, although she is getting much more stable when she sits. She's also talking more and her favorite phrase is "ah-goo.". You should hear her cuss us out in her baby language when she needs a diaper change in the middle of the night. Woo boy! Our favorite things are all the smiles and how her face lights up when she sees mommy or daddy. We love her more every day!

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies - two cool

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterfly Cards
I've been doing this style card a lot lately, because it is great for showing off beautiful Designer Series Paper patterns and it's so easy to assemble!

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies - jade

Background Basics—I started with a 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" piece of Just Jade cardstock that is scored at the 4-1/4" mark. I decorated the front flap with a 5-1/4" x 3" piece of Daffodil Afternoon DSP. I also added a 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" piece of coordinating Daffodil Afternoon DSP to the bottom of a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for the center. If you want to add any additional stamping on the inside of the card, do it now before adhering it. I finished the background by tying some Flirty Flamingo Gold Metallic Ribbon around the card front into a double-knot.

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies - jade 2

Focal Point—I stamped the Daffodil Daydream image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Very Vanilla Layering Circles die-cut. I colored the leaves and stems with a Light Old Olive Stampin' Blends Marker. I added a Special Moments sentiment in Memento Black next to the flower, then mounted the circle onto a Just Jade scalloped circle die cut with Layering Circles Dies. I stamped the same flower image again onto Very Vanilla scrap, colored the flower with Stampin' Blends in Daffodil Delight, cut it out with super-sharp Paper Snips and popped it up over the originally stamped flower. The whole circle focal point was popped up with Dimensionals onto the card front.

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies - jade 3

Finishing Touches—I used the Daffodil Dies to die cut a Gold Foil butterfly and attached that above the sentiment with a Glue Dot. Then I added a couple of the pretty Brushed Butterflies. If you love butterflies, you'll adore these pretty brushed metallic embellishments. I love that they are nice and flat, so they are great to use on cards you want to mail.

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies - bumblebee

Two Cool—For the second card, I started with a Bumblebee card base and decorated it with a vertical orientation. I used the same DSP on the card front, but changed the inside strip to the black pattern. This time, I tied some Just Jade Gold Braided Ribbon around the card front.

Daffodil Daydream Sweet Butterflies - bumblebee 2

Focal Point—My focal point is very similar to the first card, with a different sentiment and slightly different coloring.
