Butterfly Brilliance Oval Spotlight Cards
There are lots of coordinating Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Papers that are perfect for setting the color palette of your cards. I selected two pairs of patterns that worked beautifully on these criss-cross card layouts. I also experimented with both a stamped and die-cut image and an image that I die-cut straight from the Butterfly Bijou DSP. So lovely either way!
Background Basics—I adhered two strips of Butterfly Bijou DSP, measuring 4-1/4" x 1" and 1-1/2" x 5-1/2", onto a Soft Sea Foam card base. Then, I die-cut a Basic White oval with the Stitched Shapes Dies and layered it onto a Basic Black scallop oval from the Layering Ovals Dies. It's mounted onto the card front with SEAL Adhesive.
Stamped Butterfly—I stamped the Butterfly Brilliance image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White and colored it in with Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Markers. It's die-cut with the Brilliant Wings Dies and popped up with Dimensionals. Of course, it looks amazing with a little Wink of Stella shimmer brushed over the wings.
Finishing Touches—I stamped an Art Gallery sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 3/8" strip of Basic White cardstock, trimmed it to about 3" and fishtail cut the ends. It's also popped up with Dimensionals. I added some Matte Black Dots to accent the oval.
Two Cool—I selected Butterfly Bijou papers with Calypso Coral and Bumblebee colors this time and mounted them onto a Calypso Coral card base. I positioned the oval a little off-set on this layout.
DSP Butterfly—I die-cut the large pre-printed butterfly directly from the Butterfly Bijou DSP with the coordinating Brilliant Wings die and popped it up.
Finishing Touches—This time the Art Gallery sentiment is positioned under the oval. I decorated the oval with some Champagne Rhinestones.
Three Cool—I created another Calypso Coral card using the stamped butterfly and coloring it in with Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo and Mango Melody Stampin' Blends Markers. The result was a little darker than I wanted, so I might recommend swapping out the Flirty Flamingo with Daffodil Delight and So Saffron Blends instead, for a lighter butterfly like the pre-printed one. I think that would match the DSP a little better. I also moved the Champagne Rhinestones onto the card front rather than the oval. So pretty!
