Brilliant Butterfly Happy Birthday Card
My friend Sandy Carlson created this pretty Butterfly Brilliance swap card with an overlap-style card front that I love. This card is included as part of my Butterfly Bouquet 25-Card Tutorial PDF.
Background Basics—Sandy's card begins with a 9-1/2" x 4-1/4" Mint Macaron card base that's scored at the 4" mark. She added a 3-3/4" x 4" piece of Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper in my favorite design on the card front. For the inside, She adhered a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White, then added a 2" x 4" piece of Natural Touch Specialty Paper along the edge that shows to the front.
Sentiment Layers—Sandy stamped an Oval Occasions greeting in Misty Moonlight onto a 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Basic White. She layered that onto a 3-7/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Misty Moonlight, then again onto a 4" x 3" piece of Mint Macaron. Before adhering it to the card front with SEAL, she added a cool faux-bow, that I explain in the next photo.
Sweet Butterfly—The focal point is quick and simple! She adhered part of a Square Vellum Doily to the card front, then added a pre-printed Butterfly Bijou butterfly die-cut with Glue Dots.
Fantastic Faux-Bow—I love Sandy's unique bow! It looks like she tied a small piece of Misty Moonlight Twill Ribbon to a longer piece of Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon with a shorter piece of the Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon. The tail ends of the longer piece are secured onto the backside of the layers before adhering to the card front. Too Cool!
Brilliant Wings Butterfly Vine Design Card
Here's another cool overlap-style card front on a beautiful card created by Susie Wood. It's also included as part of my 25-Card Tutorial.
Background Basics—Susie's card base measures 9-3/4" x 4-1/4" and is scored at the 4-1/4" mark. Like Sandy's card, her card front is decorated with that pretty green pattern of Butterfly Bijou DSP, this time measuring 4" x 4". She added a 4" x 1" strip of coordinating Butterfly Bijou DSP along the bottom inside. A 4" x 4" piece of Basic White is added to the inside for message writing.
Lovely Vine Layers—Susie's focal point layer begins by stamping a pretty foliage image from Vine Designs onto a 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" piece of Basic White. She inked the leaves in Mint Macaron and stamped once, then again, without stamping off. She layered that onto a 2-3/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Mint Macaron, then onto a 3" x 3-3/4" piece of Just Jade before popping it up onto the card front with Dimensionals.
Sweet Butterfly—Like Sandy's card, Susie also added one of the pre-printed Butterfly Bijou DSP butterflies, die-cut with Brilliant Wings and popped up with Dimensionals. She also added a lovely Vellum butterfly die-cut with the same dies. It's adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Finishing Touches—She finished the card front with some Opal Rounds gems and a knot of white linen ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack, attached with Liquid Glue.
Sweet Sentiment—Susie added a Vine Design sentiment at the bottom of the card. It's stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White, die-cut with the Tasteful Labels dies and popped up with Dimensionals. So lovely!
