Hi Stamping Friends!

Our Too Cool Stampers monthly Stamp & Share event was held on Monday and so many awesome project ideas were shared!  I always end the event feeling inspired and re-energized creatively.  Part of our event includes assembling some timely make & takes. This month, we focused on projects that used Designer Series Papers that are featured in this month's Buy 3, Get 1 FREE Promotion. The projects were also all fun-folds, or non-traditional folds, which added to the fun!

Today, I'm share a couple of cards that use Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper as some accents on the backgrounds.  I love how they turned out and I hope you do, too!

Animal Outing Front Flap Cards

The Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper makes a festive background for these front flap, fun fold cards!

 

 

Background Basics—The first card begins with a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" quarter piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock as a foundation.  It's layered with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Smoky Slate and a 4" x 2-1/2" layer of the Call Me Clover pattern from Animal Expedition DSP.

 

Front Flap—I created the front flap by cutting a 11" x 2-1/2" piece of Pool Party cardstock, scored at the 5-1/2" mark.  It's adhered to the front of the card base with Tear & Tape Adhesive for a secure hold.

 

I layered some 2-1/4" x 5-1/4" coordinating Animal Expedition DSP onto the front of the flap, creating a foundation for the focal point.

 

Focal Point—The Animal Outing rhinoceros was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a large Whisper White Stitched Shapes circle die-cut.  I colored him in with Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends markers adding some shading with the darker color marker.  I used the light Rich Razzleberry Blends to color the bird, the dark Daffodil Delight Blends to color the beak and the light Old Olive to add some green to the grass.  The focal point is mounted onto the flap with Dimensionals. 

 

Accents—I stamped the Animal Outing greeting in Memento Black ink onto Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, then punched with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch.  It's adhered to the main circle with SNAIL with one Dimensional tucked under the top.  I finished up with a single Rhinestone Jewel that I had colored with the Bermuda Bay dark Blends marker.  So cute! 

 

Two Cool—For the second version, I started with the same Shaded Spruce card base, but layered Crumb Cake cardstock and giraffe print DSP for the background.

I used a different pattern of Animal Expedition DSP for the flap as well.

 

Focal Point—This time, I stamped the greeting in Lemon Lime Twist, then added a giraffe and leaves in Memento Black.  I colored the giraffe with Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake Blends markers.  I didn't have Blends to match the DSP leaves, so I used Classic Ink and Blender Pens in Shaded Spruce, Call Me Clover and Lemon Lime Twist to color those.  The branch is in dark Crumb Cake.  I finished by adding three of the Rhinestone Jewels colored with Bermuda Bay Blends.  He's so sweet!
