Cookie Cutter Christmas Gingerbread & Bear Gate Fold Cards

I designed my Cookie Cutter Class so that you could use ANY of the characters for ANY of the card designs.  For the final card from my class, I wanted to showcase how you can easily swap out other cookie cutter shapes…in this case the gingerbread man and teddy bear cuties!

Gate-Fold Basics—There are so many delicious patterns in the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper that go perfectly with the gingerbread man, so I chose a gate-fold card to really highlight them.  For the gate-fold, I started with a traditional 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" half sheet of Whisper White, and I scored it along the long side at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

TIP: To make sure the front panels are nice & flush, I lined up those front edges first, then used my Bone Folder to crease the score lines.

Front Panel DSP—I cut two different pieces of Candy Cane Lane DSP at 1-3/4" x 5-1/8", then layered them on 1-7/8" x 5-1/4" pieces of Real Red card stock.  Both layers are adhere to the front with SNAIL.

Too Cool Opening—My favorite part of this card is the way the two front elements create an interlocking style of closure.  Both elements are adhered with Dimensionals on one side only.  A super-easy way to make a Too Cool card!

Simple Squares—First, I created a foundation for my cookie characters by die-cutting a 2-7/8" square from Whisper White and a 3" scallop square from Real Red using the Layering Squares Framelets.  Remember to only the left side of the square to the left panel of the card front with Dimensionals.

Gingerbread Friends—Next, I stamped the gingerbread shape in Soft Suede ink onto Whisper White, then punched them out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  I stamped the two bow shapes in Real Red onto Whisper White, then punched those out with the same punch.  With one as the bow-tie and one as a hair-bow, it instantly creates an adorable cookie couple!  Awww!  They are popped with Dimensionals, too.

Sweet Sentiment—I finished the card by stamping the Cookie Cutter Christmas greeting in Soft Suede onto a 3" x 3/4" piece of Whisper White.  I fishtailed the ends with my super-sharp Paper Snips, then popped it up with more Dimensionals, this time on the right side only.

Two Cool—That gingerbread man looks great as a solo, too!  This time, I added a "happy face" sentiment in Soft Suede, and wrapped some Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine around the square.  Love it!

Three Cool—Then I tried the cuddly teddy bear image!  Take about awwww!  Adorable!

Teddy Texture & Trim—Did you notice the "furry" texture on the bears?  I inked up the Cookie Cutter Christmas bear image in Soft Suede, like the gingerbread, but I stamped off first.  The result is a lighter, speckled look that resembles a stuffed animal.  The image is larger than the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch shape, so there is no white outline.

Before attaching the bears with Dimensionals, I stamped the face image on them with Soft Suede ink.  I also figured out the positioning, then added the ears image directly on the square below behind where I would adhere them.  And off course, I added the sweet bow-tie and hair bow on them, too!

Four Cool—I couldn't resist trying the last card with only one bear. He's ready to give the recipient a beary big Christmas hug!

Beary Sweet Sentiment—One of the Cookie Cutter Christmas greetings is written specifically for the bear!  Perfect!
