CASEd from the 2015 Sale-A-Bration Brochure.

Today's countdown sneak peek is another card that my friend Michelle Hoover created for our upcoming Occasions Catalog & Sale-A-Bration Kickoff Party next Sunday!  Talk about elegant!  I'm loving beautiful flower with the gold accents!

Background Basics—The card starts with a Very Vanilla card base, layered with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.

Sale-A-Bration SNEAK PEEK: Lotus Blossom Stamp Set—This Sale-A-Bration exclusive stamp set creates a beautiful lotus flower in three simple steps!  Michelle stamped the darkest tips of the flower first in Island Indigo, then stamped the other two additional layers in Coastal Cabana and Soft Sky for a gorgeously highlighted image. She finished up the flower with a Pear Pizzazz stem.  

The sentiment is also from the Lotus Blossom set, and it's stamped in Island Indigo.

More Gold Accents—Before adhering the stamped layer to the card front with Dimensionals, Michelle wrapped it with some Gold Baker's Twine and tied it in a knot.  My favorite part is the small heart punched with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack heart from Champagne Glimmer Paper.  I think it looks like a charm is dangling there.  So pretty!   

This is such a simple card that would look amazing recreated in any color combination!  Come and make one with us at the Kickoff Party!

Ooooh!  Michelle Hoover created this card for our Occasions Catalog & Sale-A-Bration Kickoff Party next Sunday and it's SO pretty!  I love the colors and the gorgeous new floral images!  You get several more sneak peeks from the new catalogs on this amazing card!

SNEAK PEEK #1: Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper—This new DSP is hands-down my favorite from the new Occasions Catalog!  It's filled with gorgeous watercolored flower prints in Blackberry Bliss, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Rose Red, Soft Sky, Blushing Bride, Wild Wasabi and Sahara Sand.  It will be a fabulous choice for spring birthdays, Mother's Day and thinking of you cards!

UPDATED: Ooops!  When Michelle sent me the photos of her card, I mistakenly assumed that it used the Painted Blooms DSP because of the similar petals pattern.  But, this is really another paper altogether...

Today's sneak peek card comes courtesy of Michelle Hoover, and it's part of our Occasions Catalog & Sale-A-Bration Kickoff Party on January 4.

SNEAK PEEK #1: Bow Builder Punch—Can you say adorable?!  The trio of mini bows on this card are so sweet and they're super easy to make with the new Bow Builder Punch! 

Bow Builder Basics—It's so easy to make a petite bow out of any Designer Series Paper or card stock!

1. Punch twice to have the bow parts that you'll need. 
2. Use your bone folder to curl the bow, so you can adhere the ends easily with a Glue Dot.
3. Adhere the two bow pieces together with a Glue Dot.
4. Wrap the center piece around and adhere with a Glue Dot.
5. Adhere the two bow tails to either side with more Glue Dots.

SNEAK PEEK #2: Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper—Michelle punched her bows from the brand new Birthday Bash DSP!  You're gonna love the fun designs and cheerful colors of this paper pack: Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Tangelo Twist.  It's perfect for birthday cards and there are several awesome new birthday stamp sets that work perfectly with these patterns!

SNEAK PEEK #1: Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper—I'm really loving this year's exclusive Sale--A-Bration Designer Series Paper called Best Year Ever.  Today's card features three of the fun patterns in a delightful combination of Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand colors.

Background Basics—Along with the DSP, I created banners with Silver Glimmer Paper and Coastal Cabana card stock.  Each banner measure 3-1/2" x 3/4" with each of the ends fishtailed.  They are adhered to the Coastal Cabana card base with SNAIL.

I stamped the Coastal Cabana dot pattern on the Coastal Cabana banner with an image from another new Sale-A-Bration product that is the next sneak peek...

SNEAK PEEK #2: Best Day Ever Stamp Set—This card highlights Best Day Ever, one of the 6 exclusive Sale-A-Bration stamp sets that you can earn for FREE! 

Choose Your Stamp Style! I love that you can choose any of this year's Sale-A-Bration stamps in your favorite stamp style: wood mount, clear mount or photopolymer!  Woohoo! 

Sweet Sentiment—I colored the greeting with Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral and Soft Suede Markers, stamped it on Whisper White, then punched it with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  It's popped with Dimensionals.

Best Ever Heart—The small heart image is from the same stamp set, inked in Crushed Curry, and punched with the Itty Bitty Accents heart punch.

SNEAK PEEK #3: Best Year Ever Accessory Pack—The little button accent is part of a Sale-A-Bration ribbon & button combo pack!  The accessories in the pack coordinate with the Best Year Ever DSP perfectly with ribbons & buttons in Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry. 

I tied the button with White Baker's Twine and adhered it to the card front with a Glue Dot.

My second version uses the same banner elements for the background, but this time they are only fishtailed on one side.  I used a Crushed Curry button, but otherwise the same.

Hi Stamping Friends!

So, in the blink of an eye, all of the Christmas music is gone, the trash cans are filled with wrapping paper and the neighbors are already taking down their holiday lights.  I have a mixture of sadness and relief that Christmas is done for another year. 

But, I can tell you what makes me REALLY excited now that the holiday is over...I can start focusing wholeheartedly on the BRAND NEW!  New Year!  New Occasions Catalog!  New Sale-A-Bration freebies!  Woohoo!  I barely had time to wind down from all of the Christmas festivities before I was starting to get giddy with anticipation for all of the NEW stuff to come!  Yippeee!

Today, I'm sharing another card from my "Last Thursdays" card class, coming up this Monday, December 29.  You still have time to RSVP!  Just let me know by Sunday at 5pm, please. 

Diagonals are a popular trend right now and I love the bold diagonal on this fun card design!  The sentiment makes a fabulous focal point next to a fun, colorful accent flower.  Best of all, it's super-easy to create!

Angled Background Basics—I started with a 4" x 4" piece of Back To Black Designer Series Paper, but you could certainly use any of your favorite DSP.  Then, it's just as simple as cutting a diagonal line across the square with your Stampin' Trimmer.  You'll want to keep these things in mind as you prepare your cut:

• How steep do you want the angle to be?  A little tilt, or a lot?  Too steep will be difficult to read.
• How far down the card do you want the sentiment to be?  Near the top or the bottom? 
• How big is my sentiment?  I'm using larger sentiments, which work perfectly for the amount of space this size of DSP creates.  If you use a smaller sentiment, you may have to increase the original length of the paper to create a thinner diagonal line. Know what I mean?

You may want to do a practice piece with some scrap paper to make sure you're getting the angle you like.

Mounting The Background—Once the DSP was cut into two pieces, I added a bunch of Dimensionals to the back to pop it up on the Whisper White card base.

Sweet Sentiment—Next, I decided where I would like my flower accent to be and a positioned the Blooming With Kindness sentiment accordingly, inked with Memento Black Ink. 

 

Fancy Flower Accent—I punched a Fancy Flower shape from Melon Mambo card stock and curled the petals with a Bone Folder.  A Petite Petal punch in Basic Black card stock is layered on top, and it's petals are also curled up.  The center is a Whisper White flower punch from the retired Itty Bitty Punch Pack, and it's topped with a Pearl Jewel.

  

For my second version, I chose a bit more color and this is the card we'll be creating at class.  I started with a Melon Mambo card base, and my Whisper White layer is 4" x 5-1/4".  That meant my DSP needed to be a bit smaller to start. 

Skinnier Sentiment—This time, I started with a 3-3/4" wide x 4" long piece, so the width of my diagonal is a bit smaller.  I found a smaller sentiment from Lots of Thanks that worked perfectly in that space. 

 

Petite Flower Accent—The smaller space also meant that I needed a smaller flower accent.  I punched the Petite Petals flower in Melon Mambo, then topped it with a Basic Black Itty Bitty Punch flower and Pearl Jewel.

I thought it needed just a little something more to fill the space, so I added Pear Pizzazz leaves punched from the Bird Builder Punch.  They are adhered with a 2-Way Glue Pen.  Perfect!

What Color Accent Do You Like?  My local class participants can choose their favorite color to accent the Back To Black DSP!

Hi Stamping Friends!

I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful holiday with family & friends! 

Today, I'm trying to focus on the true meaning of Christmas and let go of my unrealistic expectations. It seems like many, many things are not turning out the way I had imagined them.  I didn't get all of my special Christmas decorations put out this year—I barely got the tree up last week. I didn't send out as many cards as I had intended to. I never drove around to see Christmas lights.  There was no "White Christmas" here in Fort Wayne.  I never had a chance to make Christmas cookies.  And, I've been sick on the days that I should be relaxing and enjoying most. My "undone" list goes on and on...

But, I know that none of that stuff matters anyway.  The important part is that I'll be with people I love today and I'll be sending special Christmas blessings to those who can't be here.  The important part is that we are all safe and have no health dramas going on. The important part is that I can be kissed by my husband and snuggled by my dog and hugged by my nieces and nephew.

So, I'm putting on my "good enough" Christmas hat and deciding to embrace all of the gifts that I have been blessed with today!  It is a great day!

I did have some time to put together a simple Christmas gift for my neighbors.

I created some Christmas candy jars with some inexpensive bottles from Target.  Each was filled with Hershey's Kisses and Rolos wrapped in holiday colors.

 

Jar Wrap—This was a great way to use up some of my leftover Nordic Noel Designer Series Paper!  I wrapped a 2-1/4" x 10" piece around the jar and adhered with Sticky Strip. 

 

Lid Décor—The 1-3/4" Circle Punch was the perfect size to punch out a matching piece of DSP to cover the lids! 

 

Tree Accent—I wanted to "spruce" up the outside, but I needed to keep it simple.  I punched a tree shape from Garden Green card stock with the Tree Punch, embossed it with the Decorative Dots Folder, then added a Champagne Glimmer Paper star.  The shapes are both popped with Dimensionals.

 

Tag & Bow—I tied a Real Red Woven Satin bow around the neck of the jar, then added a Merry Everything tag, inked in Garden Green and punched with the Note Tag punch.  The tag is attached with some White Baker's Twine.

I really love the way these gifts turned out and they were so quick & easy to make!  I like to keep empty jars like this on hand because this is a fantastic idea for a quick, last-minute gift for any occasion!

Today, we're looking at my favorite card from my December 29 "Last Thursdays" class, featuring an adorable punch-art snowman!

CASEd from Lisa Curcio at Lisa's Stamp Studio and Renee Ondrajka at Renee's Rubber Stampin' Room.

Winter is officially here and I thought it would be the perfect time to build a snowman...with punches! He's surprisingly easy to bring to life!

 

Background Basics—I love the textured snowflakes in the background of this Lost Lagoon card base!  The background is created with the Northern Flurry Texture Impressions Folder.  This folder is the older design which is a little shorter and can be run through the Big Shot sideways, so the card can be run through while open.  The side with the "Sizzix" words is the "right" emboossed side. 

 

Do You Want To Build A Snowman?—Here's a list of all of the parts and pieces you'll need to assemble your snowman.

• Body—2-1/2" Circle Punch.  Add to bottom of card and trim off excess.
• Brim of Hat—Ovals Framelits #1.
• Top of Hat—Artisan Label Punch.  Adhere to back of oval.
• Head—1-3/4" Circle Punch. Adhere to the front of the oval. 
• Nose—Triangle Punch. Punch a small triangle with the tip of the punch. Dimensional it!
• Owl Builder Punch—Small Eyes are buttons.
• Scarf—1/2" x 2" wide strip. 
• Scarf Ends—Two 1/2" wide strips fish-tailed with the Banner Punch.
• Scarf Décor—Small Heart Punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Dimensional it!

I decorated the hat with a Frosted Sequins snowflake that's topped with a Rhinestone Jewel.  The scarf is created with All Is Calm Designer Series Paper.

When everything was in place on the card, I drew on a smile with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Sweet Sentiment Sneak Peek—I stamped a brand new sentiment from a new set in the Spring Occasions Catalog called Sheltering Tree.  I thought it went perfectly with our friendly snowman!  I stamped it in Lost Lagoon ink on a 1/2" wide strip of Whisper White, then trimmed it to size and fish-tailed one end.  It's popped up with Dimensionals.

   

My second card is a horizontal version with Frosty leaning to the left.

This time I used words from the Endless Birthday Wishes set and die-cut the sentiment with the Circle Card Thinlits.  It needed a Rhinestone Jewel accent for a sparkly finish.

Nancy Korb created this stunning, sparkly Ornamental Pine (wood) card.  After stamping the images and sponging around the edges with Soft Suede ink, she embossed the entire front with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder for a real WOW finish!

Darla Eigenschink created this festive holiday card with the Bright & Beautiful (wood) stars embossed in Gold Embossing Powder.  The bottom is decorated with Trim The Tree DSP and a greeting from the same set. I love the Gold Foil mat behind the sentiment for some extra shine.  Very nice!

Kathe decorated a mini kraft gift bag with a mini note card holder similar to the ones I shared on my Card Hanger Gift Bags post.  I love how she paired the Brushed Gold card stock with the Silver Embossing on the Bright & Beautiful (wood) images for a very regal look!  She continues the metallic theme with both 5/8" Gold Satin Ribbon and 1/8" Silver Ribbon tied on the handle.

I love the simplicity of this card by Peggy Tassler.  She stamped the Christmas Bauble image in soft Smoky Slate and used it as a backdrop for the words from Ornamental Pine (wood) in Cherry Cobbler.  An All Is Calm Snowflake Embellishment dangling from the Cherry Cobbler Sheer Linen Ribbon is an elegant touch.

Today, let's take a look at another card from the Four Feathers class! 

 

CASEd from Tami White at Stamp With Tami.

I've discovered that a cluster of feathers is a lovely embellishment for elegant thank you notes and birthday cards!  I love that you can have some feathers cut from sparkly, textured or vellum paper, and other feathers that are stamped with details. 

 

Background Basics—I created a simple background of 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White embossed with the Woodgrain Texture Folder and adhered it to a Soft Suede card base.

 

Fabulous Feathers—I love the textures of the bunch of feathers!  The front two feathers are stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White and die-cut with the Feathers Framelits.  The darker feather is a large Four Feathers image stamped on Soft Suede card stock with Soft Suede ink, then die-cut.  But, I think it's the feather die-cut in Champagne Glimmer Paper gives this card just the right amount of glitz! 

The two back feathers are adhered with SNAIL and the front ones are popped with Dimensionals.

I added a Gold Baker's Twine bow with a Glue Dot to pull the feathers together.

 

Sweet Sentiment—I used sentiments from Lots of Thanks for all of my Four Feathers class cards and, if you like that set, you can add that stamp set to the class for an additional, discounted fee.  I stamped the greeting in Soft Suede onto a 1/2" wide strip of Whisper White, then trimmed the ends into fishtail shapes and popped it up with Dimensionals.

The elements on this card look great on both horizontal or vertical style cards!

It's Day 5 of Gift Card Holders Week at TooCoolStamping.com!  Today's two cool projects present their gift cards in an extra-special way—they are really gift card boxes!

CASEd from Susan Itell at Simple Stampin.

Top Note Gift Card Box—Kathe Madsen created this fancy-shaped gift card box with the help of the Top Note Die.  The cover is decorated with the White Christmas stamp set.  I love how you can create all kinds of awesome holiday scenes with that cute set! 

 

When you open the box, there is neat little place that fits a gift card perfectly!  You could also use the box to hold about 6 Hershey's Nuggets.

Inspired from Stamped Silly.

All Is Calm Gift Card Case—Our second project was created by Jodi Geers.  She decorated a silver tin that holds the gift card inside.  Stampin' Up! used to carry "skinny tins" just like this, but they are now retired. You can still find them online by searching for "CD tin case" or "CD tin box." 

Jodi decorated the tin with All Is Calm Designer Series Paper with accents in Silver Glimmer Paper.  For the focal point, she added a Festival of Trees image, stamped in Pear Pizzaz and Lost Lagoon, and a Silver Glimmer tree punched with the Tree Punch.  The sentiment is from Merry Everything inked in Lost Lagoon and punched with the Note Tag Punch.  A Lost Lagoon Silky Tafetta Ribbon finishes the case's cover décor.

Jodi lined the inside of the case with more All Is Calm DSP for a nice finished look.  She used the Envelope Punch Board with a 5" x 5" All Is Calm patterned paper to create a cute envelope-style pocket. 

The top flap of the envelope is secured open and the envelope is adhered on three sides with Sticky Strip to the bottom of the tin to create the pocket.  In other words, you don't open the envelope to get to the gift card.  There is a sample gift card in the photo sticking out of the pocket.  The pocket has a Good Greetings sentiment punched with the Modern Label Punch on top, along with a Rhinestone accent.
