What's Happening In The Too Cool Stamping Studio?
This weekend, I'm busy getting ready for my Demo Team Meeting coming up on Monday. I just got my first official box of stampin' goodies from the new Annual Catalog—woohoo!—so my team will get a chance to see, and play with, some of the new stuff first hand! I can't wait to show them!
I'm also super-excited about my new Stamp-of-The-Month Class Kit program! These kits, spotlighting fun & versatile stamp sets, are better than ever before! And now, I'm offering one EVERY MONTH as a local class AND an online Class-To-Go Kit! Too Cool!
If you missed it, be sure to check out yesterday's announcement on my NEW Stamp-of-The-Month Class Kit program, including a full class description for June's Class featuring the Regarding Dahlias stamp set!
Let's take a closer look at one of the projects from this month's kit!
I'm starting off with one of my favorite cards from the kit—a pretty "joy fold" style card!
CASEd from Cindy Brumbaugh at CindyLeeBeeDesigns.com.
When I found this card design online, I couldn't get it out of my head! I kept thinking about it and thinking about it, and it wouldn't let me go until I created it! Does that ever happen to you?! My obsession with this embossed, joy fold card was the main reason I chose to spotlight the Regarding Dahlias set this month. I hope you love it, and the stamp set, as much as I do!
Joy Fold Cards—So, you may be asking...'what's a "joy fold" card?' Well, it's a fancy-folded card created by adhering two folded pieces of card stock together to create a unique, overlapped opening. It's quick & easy to do, and has a lot more pizzazz than your traditional card!
My Joy Fold Dimensions:
- Outer Card: 8" x 4-1/4". Scored along the 8" side at the 2-1/2" mark.
- Inner Card: 8" x 3". Scored along the 8" side at the 4" mark.
Embossed Dahlia—I stamped the large Regarding Dahlias image on a piece of 3-5/8" x 2-5/8" Basic Black card stock with VersaMark Ink, then sprinkled on White Embossing Powder and heated it until it was smooth & glossy with the Heat Tool. You'll receive a jar of White Embossing Powder inside your Class Kit! If you already have it, simply substitute with another item.
TIP: Although I consistently forget to use mine, I do recommend using the Embossing Buddy pad before stamping to "prep" your paper. It will remove static and oils from your fingertips so you won't have stray embossing where you don't want it.
If I really wanted to coordinate perfectly, I would have used the Pool Party Embossing Powder, but I don't have that in my collection...yet!
I matted that onto a piece of 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" Pool Party card stock, and eventually adhered it to the "inner" card front.
Outer Card Panel—The small panel from the "outer" card was covered with 2-1/4" x 4" retired Winter Frost Designer Series Paper. I still have lots of that paper stack left and I thought this was a great way to use up the paper.
Pearl Details—I decorated the top right corner with some Pearl Jewels. You'll receive a full pack of Pearl Jewels in your Class Kit, so you can add as many as you like!
Inside Card Details—I stamped the 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White inside layer with the same flower using Momento Tuxedo Black Ink. Once the "inner" card is adhered, most of this image is covered up, but I like the little bit that is peeking out around the edges!
Inside Stamping—When you open the "inner" card, you'll find a 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" layer of Whisper White card stock for writing your message. I wanted to dress that up a bit, so I added the flower design to the edge and it appears to be a contination of the outside flower—accidental, but still Too Cool!
Sweet Sentiment—Regarding Dahlias has several versatile greetings, and this "thank you" fit the border space perfectly!
I did something a little different with this class kit...I focused on a technique. I'm assuming that most of the stampers ordering the Class-To-Go Kit will already have the VersaMark Ink and Heat Tool needed for heat embossing the projects. But if you don't, I have a discounted Class Kit Upgrade available, so you'll have everythiing you need! Or, you can simply use inks, rather than embossing powders for an alternate look.
Non-Embossed Version—Above is a version I created for those who do not have embossing supplies. Simply take away the top black layer and use the Pool Party layer for stamping your dahlia image.
I added some shading with Pool Party ink applied with a Blender Pen. A different look, but still so pretty!
