Wreath & wreath card_toocool

Hi Stamping Friends!

Have you created the Burlap & Blooms Wreath yet?  It's such a pretty Spring wreath that makes a fantastic gift for Mother's Day, a friend, or maybe for someone just moving into a new home.  See more details about the Burlap & Blooms Wreath, including a video and more photos.

Today, I wanted to share how I put together the matching card!

FREE Mini Wreath Card Kit—Now through Feburary 28, purchase the Burlap & Blooms Wreath Kit at my Online Store and I'll send you a FREE Mini Wreath Card Kit.  The kit will include all of the pre-cut, pre-punched supplies—just add inks and adhesives!

Wreath card 1_toocool

CASEd from Kirsteen Gill at Creatin' With Kirsteen.

Card Base—I stamped the "happy" greeting from Happy Watercolor in Crumb Cake ink onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White.  It's mounted onto a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Soft Sky mat, then adhered to a So Saffron card base.

Wreath card 2_toocool

Wreath Base—I used a combination of two framelits from the Circle Collection Framelits to die-cut a wreath shape from Crumb Cake card stock.

Wrapping Illusion—Rather than wrap ribbon around the wreath base, I used some sponging and masking to give the illusion of the wrapping.  Using a scrap piece of paper as a mask, I sponged diagonal lines every 1/4" or so around the entire ring.  I used Crumb Cake Ink with a Sponge Dauber to apply the ink.

Wreath - yellow flower

Bloom from actual Burlap & Blooms Wreath.

Next, I started creating mini flowers that were similar to the flowers on the actual Burlap & Blooms Wreath.  I literally used the same instructions that came in my wreath kit, only made the pieces in miniature.

Perfect Circle Petals—To mimic the bloom above, I punched out 7 circles with the 1/2" Circle Punch.

Just like the instructions, I slit them each half-way down the middle, then adhered the overlapped ends together to make each of the petals.  I started using Multipurpose Glue to adhere the pieces, but ended up using Glue Dots, which were a lot faster.  I topped off the center with a punch-out from Itty Bitty Punches in Smoky Slate.

I made one flower in each of the wreath colors: So Saffron, Soft Sky and Calypso Coral.

Wreath - gray flower

Fringe Flower from actual Burlap & Blooms Wreath.

Fringe Flowers—I thought that traditional card stock would be too thick to get a good fringe effect in miniature, so I tried to duplicate the fringe flowers with Vellum Card Stock.

Wreath card - fringe flower_toocool

I cut a 2-1/2" long and 1" wide piece of Vellum card stock, then folded it in half length-wise.  I adhered the free edges together with one piece of Sticky Strip adhesive folded over the edges.

Next, I used my Paper Snips to cut fringe on the folded side.

Then, peel off the red liner from the Sticky Strip and start rolling the flower into shape.

Fray out the fringe, then dip the ends onto an ink pad and let dry.  Like the circle blooms, I did one in each of the three colors: So Saffron, Soft Sky and Calypso Coral.

I adhered the blooms to the wreath with more Glue Dots, or you could use a hot glue gun to make it even faster and more secure.

Flat Flowers—I added some smaller, flat flowers to fill in between the larger blooms, just like the actual wreath. I punched out a layered Smoky Slate flower with the Boho Blossoms punch.  And, I added some of the Itty Bitty Punch Pack flowers, in each of the 3 colors, for the smallest blooms.  All of the flat flowers are topped with a Rhinestone Jewel.

Tied Up With A Bow—I finished the mini wreath with a pretty bow made from Crumb Cake Seam Binding and adhered with a Glue Dot.

  1. Thank you, so very much, for the details. I loved your projects when I first saw them on your blog. I thought I had everything figured out, but some of the card instructions were surprising, so I’m very happy you shared. I must try the darling card to match the wreath (that might actually get made, one day)!
