Wow Techniques Bonus Project: Spiral Flower Chocolate Holder

Yesterday, we used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to create a pretty and unique closure a card that we'll be making at the Wow Techniques Class: Scallop Tag Topper Gate Fold Cards.  But, I also found a super-cute project using the same punch to make a quick & easy Ghirardelli Chocolate Holder.

CASEd from Kay Kalthoff at Stamping To Share.

Oh how pretty!  It's a perfect little Valentine's Day treat!  But, wouldn't this also make an awesome favor for a special event like a wedding reception, bridal shower, or Mother/Daughter Luncheon?  I love how it turned out and you'll love how easy it is to create!

Project Instructions—I CASEd the project from Kay Kalthoff at Stamping To Share.  You can see exactly how to make this project at her Spiral Flower Ghirardelli Treat Holder Video

Rose chocolate - 5

To make the basic Ghirardelli Chocolate Holder:

  • Start with a 2" x 6" piece of card stock.  I used Soft Suede.
  • Score at the 2-7/8" and 3-1/8" marks.
  • Punch each end with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.
  • Tie the ends closed with a ribbon.
  • Decorate & add chocolate!

Roll the flowers with tweezers. Before you hot glue it, your rose should look like this.

Spiral Flower—Kay shows you some flower-making tips in her tutorial.  Here are the basic steps:

  • Die-cut two flowers with the Spiral Flower Bigz Die: one in Cherry Cobbler and one in Primrose Petals Core-dinations card stock.
  • Rough up the Primrose Petals flower with sandpaper to expose the lighter core.
  • Stack both flowers together and use tweezers to start rolling both layers into a flower shape.
  • Push down on the top of the flower with your palm to "open" the petals.
  • Adhere the flower with a dollop of hot glue, and tighten the flower to a shape that is pleasing before the glue cools.

Decorating The Holder—The Wild Wasabi leaves are die-cut from the Secret Garden Framelits. I used more hot glue to add those, then add the spiral rose at the base of the stem. TIP: If you want the treat holder to stand up properly, make sure that you adhere the flower flush to the bottom.  Adjust this and test it out while the glue is still hot!

I added an Express Yourself phrase in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla card stock, then die-cut it with the Bitty Banners Framelits.

Bring A Friend & Come "Wow" With Us!  When you bring a new friend to my Wow Techniques Class, you'll get to make this cute treat holder as a bonus project!  Stamp Club members get to make it automatically as a perk for being in the Club!  I'd love for you to join us!  Beginning stampers are welcome!  RSVP by Wednesday, February 12!
