I have my July Stamp Club coming up this Friday, and I've decided that we're going to do the Altered DVD Journals.  They were so much fun at my Big Brothers Big Sisters event last week, that I think they'll be a perfect project for Club!

I'm also considering doing a version of today's pretty card for Club…

Flower fest white emboss 1   Flower fest white emboss 2

Flower fest white emboss closeup I fell in love with the simplicity of this technique—white embossing of a line image on colored card stock.

I think part of why it appeals to me so much is that the Flower Fest stamp set images lend themselves to this style.  Whatever the reason, I LOVE this look!

I also love the way you can layer the center of these flowers!  I embossed each flower twice, then cut the center out of one and popped it up with a Dimensional.  So simple!  So pretty!

Embossing TIP: Don't forget to use your Embossing Buddy on this one!  The white powder on dark colored card stock will really show the specks.  You know, the ones that can show up when the powder clings to the card stock due to static electricity or the oils from your fingers.  Wiping the card stock with the Buddy first will eliminate a significant amount of these unwanted extras!

Flower fest - vicki sc 2 I CASEd the idea from Vicki B. at It's A Stamp Thing: Just For You. She did Two Cool versions (gotta love that!), which you can see on her blog.

Congratulations, Vicki!  Did you know that you actually got me to enjoy a card with Poppy Parade on it?!  Seriously, Poppy Parade is currently my least favorite color, mostly because I have trouble finding other colors that look good with it.  But, it really works well here!

Too Cool Challenge: Do you have a color you don't like or use very much?  I challenge you to blow the dust off of it and try it out.  Experiment with some different color combinations with the help of the My Create Ink Color Lab.  Create something with your non-favorite color, then tell me about it in the comments below.  Even better, add a link to a photo of your finished project!

Secret Blog Candy Winners!

So, one of my loyal readers (waves to Jodi) let me know that I had never announced the May winner for the Too Cool Secret Blog Candy contest.  What?!  I completely missed it!  In my defense, it was the week that my father-in-law passed away, and I had also just had a contest predicting which sets would be retired.  I could have sworn I did it….  Ooops!  Sorry about that!

No matter…this month we are announcing TWO winners to make up for it: one selected from the May comments and one from the June comments.  And, the winners are…*drumroll*…

Punch potpurri For May, the winner isBillie

Billie's comment said, "OH NO! They better not take "lovely as a tree" off the market. I have a lot of old stamp sets and "lovely as a tree" is my favorite. It is so versatile. If I don't know what to do, I usually turn to that one."

Well, thank goodness that Lovely As A Tree made it in the new catalog!  Whew!  Congratulations, Billie!  You can choose either a "Punch Potporri" clear-mount Hostess stamp set, or your choice of one pack of card stock valued at $6.95!

Something to celebrate set For June, the winner is…Diane Malcor

Diane's comment said, "Thanks so very much for your instructions and for sharing your inspiration! Melissa Davies referred me to your page when I saw her creation on Stampin' Connection. Thanks again!"

Congratulations, Diane!  I appreciate your kind words!  You can choose either a "Something To Celebrate" clear-mount Hostess stamp set, or your choice of one pack of card stock valued at $6.95!

Billie and Diane, please email me your selection and contact information and I'll get your prize out to you ASAP.

Thanks so much to all of my loyal readers!  I love having the opportunity to share what inspires me with you!  And, I really appreciate hearing from you, so be sure to leave a comment and you'll be entered to win this month's Too Cool Secret Blog Candy contest

Happy Independence Day!  This is the first July 4th at my new house and my neighbors sure know how to celebrate!  I can sit on my deck and see (well, see as good as I can through trees) fireworks shows from every direction!  There was a lot of money going up in smoke last night—whew!  But, it was spectacular show!  Wonder if we'll get an encore tonight!  Have a safe and happy holiday!
