Fabulous Florets Telescoping Circle Card

I found a super-cool "wow" card online last week and I had to try it out!  It's a telescoping card!  Check it out!  It starts out looking like this…

Then you pull the satin ribbon tab and it starts telescoping open…

Pull it a little more and it opens even more…

Pretty awesome, don't ya think?!  I love how it swivels on the brads—too fun!

Telescoping Card Details

I got the idea from a card I saw on Patty Bennett's blog: Telescoping Card.  Here is her version with three telescoping panels using the Hello Blossoms, Bold Blossom and Upsy Daisy sets…

She got the idea from Barb Mullikin's Telescoping Circles Card (isn't it great that everyone likes to CASE?!), and Barb has a fabulous Telescoping Card Tutorial on how to make this project!  Here's her version using the Cottage Garden stamp set…

Telescoping circle card - 5 Telescoping Card Tips

At first, I tried to get fancy by having four telescoping circles on my card, but I quickly realized that you have to have an odd number of circles in order for the the top circle to be right-side-up!  So, I went for five!  Whoa!

I also realized that I didn't have all of the circle die sizes that I needed, so I used my Circle Scissors Plus to cut the in-between sizes.

Here are the sizes of layers I used, starting from the bottom. I've listed all the cool tools you can use to make the circle-cutting easy, but if you don't have all of these dies, you can always do what I did and use the Circle Scissors Plus for any size circle.

Stamping Tips

I stuck to basic stamping techniques on this card.  The Daffodil layer flowers are stamped in Melon Mambo then colored in with Tangerine Tango ink and a Blender Pen. I colored on the stamps with markers for the smallest three circles, and used the stamp-off technique on the Wasabi layer.

I'm thinking I need to add some Dazzling Diamonds to jazz this project up a bit!  Then it may be a contender for next month's Stamp Club projects!  What do you think?

Thanks for visiting my Too Cool Stamping blog today!  I appreciate it!

  1. This is definately too cool. I don’t have all those circle dies and punches, but maybe I can come up with something. Thanks

  2. Billie, If you have a colluzzle or any other circle template, you can probably come up with a good approximation.
