This week, I was experimenting with stamping on Window Sheets and coloring with Stampin' Pastels. I loved the results on this lovely card in non-traditional holiday colors...
I created a pretty overlay by stamping the ornament image from Tags Til Christmas onto Window Sheets with White StazOn Ink. (You could also use the Delightful Decorations stamp set for more ornament styles.) Like the Chalkboard technique , I wanted to start with a opaque, white base, then color with Pastels. White Craft Ink is what you would normally use on card stock, but it won't adhere to the smooth surface of the Window Sheets, so StazOn was required.
The thing about StazOn is that it dries very quickly, which makes it a little trickier to add Pastel colors. You have to dab the pastels on the stamped image right away, and it's not as easy to layer colors.
I used a cotton ball to smudge on a light color over the whole image, then add a darker color to the edges. (Certainly Celery/Marina Mist and Bashful Blue/Marina Mist are my color combos)
I had intended the colors to be brighter, but I think the drying time effects how much color will stick, so the result was soft, pastel shades.
The background is stamped with a flourish from the Baroque Motifs in Certainly Celery. The sentiment is a partial image from the Perfect Punches set. I adhered the window sheet on the left-hand side with Sticky Tape and covered the evidence with a piece of Marina Mist card stock.
The card is embellished with Basic Pearls and Chantilly Crochet Trim. For the pleats, I scrunched the crochet ribbon on a strip of Sticky Tape. I trimmed the edges of some Crochet Trim to make the tiny bows, which are attached with Glue Dots.
